5 Days Bwindi Gorillas & Kibale Chimps

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.
After a cup of tea/coffee, drive to south western part of Uganda via Mubende to Fort Portal, passing through the scenic countryside of Rwenzori Mountains known as the “Mountains of the Moon”. Also along side the road tea plantations, buildings among other can be viewed, you shall have a 1 hour break at Fort portal for lunch. The safari Takes about 5-6 hours. Check in at your desirable lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimp trekking and Nature walks.
Early in the morning get a cup of tea /coffee, report to a ranger station at 7.00am for a short briefing about chimp trekking, the most exciting activity done at the park. Chimp tracking can take half a day searching for them and other primates. These funny apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature, are fabulous fun to watch as they play in fruiting trees. The guide will provide information not only to the primates, but also to other God’s creation that leave in the forest to ensure that the walk is enjoyable and informative. During the walk you may stop to listen to the calls of the chimps to avoid bypassing them in the dense forest. Other primates such as black and white Colobuses, the rare L’hoest monkey, bush baby, baboons and mammals like elephant, butterflies can be seen. And bird lovers may also have a chance to spot various species of birds like the yellow spotted nicator, rumped tinker birds among other. Come back at the hotel for lunch and relaxation.
After lunch, take a visit to Bigodi swamp sanctuary for a nature walk which may gift you with a chance to see over 229 tree species found within the wet tropical forests of the park. Plus also different primates such as, blue monkeys, baboons vervet monkey red tailed monkeys and a variety of bird species. Come back at the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at.

Day 3: Kibale-Bwindi Impenetrable N.P.
Early in the morning after a cup of tea/coffee, you will depart to Bwindi impenetrable National Park home of the few surviving mountain gorillas in the world, the journey will take you about 5-6 hours drive up to the park. You will be driven through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park famously known as Ishasha sector and you will have lunch at Ishasha River. This place may provide you the opportunity to view the famous tree climbing lions before proceeding to Bwindi National park. The Park has incredible variety of flora. It also holds 348 species of birds and supports 24 of 26 Albertine Rift Endemics that occur in Uganda. Arrive in the evening at the park. Check in into your desirable lodge and later you will have dinner and an overnight stay at.

Day 4: Gorilla tracking.
After an early breakfast, proceed to the Park Headquarters for a short briefing before enjoying the Gorilla trekking. The time you take to get to the Gorillas is very unpredictable because they keep on moving as they search for food. It may take between 3 to 8 hours. A reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a strong pair of walking shoes, together with packed lunch and water. After, a guide will lead you to move inside the thick forest to search for these endangered mountain gorillas, possibly one of the most exciting and memorable encounter with the great apes. On the way, you are entertained by baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, birds to mention but a few. You spend just an hour with the apes watching them as they interact. After a full satisfaction, come back to the lodge for relaxation. If you have energy this afternoon go for a guided village walk, see the local communities living around the park, (Batwa) visit their homestead, they will perform their cultural dance, women display their weaving skills; introduce their traditional healers to you among other activities. Note that the fees you pay for these performances go directly to improve the welfare of families around the park. Come back at the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Return to Kampala.
You will have breakfast in the morning and then after embark on your journey back to Kampala with lunch en route, arriving in the evening at your Hotel/ Entebbe Airport depending on your departure flight.
