6 Days Rwanda Wildlife & Primates Safari

This safari will begin and ends in Rwanda. It will take you to Akagera National Park which lies in the North Eastern part of Rwanda. It is regarded as the most protected area in Rwanda with a wide variety of wildlife such as giraffe, zebras, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, impalas among others. The safari will also take you to Nyungwe National Park which is a home to over 13 species of primates including the chimpanzee the most man’s closest relative together with the Angolan colobus monkey which move in a group of over 430 members, others include Owl-faced Monkey, L’Hoest’s Mountain Monkey, various species of birds among others.

Day 1: Arrival at the airport.
On arrival at the airport, you will be met and greeted by our company representatives who will drive you to the Hotel for relaxation. Dinner and an overnight stay

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park.
After a lovely breakfast our tour guide will drive you to the North eastern part of Rwanda, but before reaching the Park stopover will be made to visit the genocide memorial centers, museum, cultural centers, market places and other interesting places. Then after proceed to Akagera National Park with a fantastic and a scenic view throughout and en rout game drives reaching in the evening at the Park. Dinner and an overnight stay

Day 3: Game drive and Boat trip on Lake Ihema.
Early in the morning after a cup of tea or coffee, you will go for a morning game drive which may give you a chance to view a variety of animal species that came out from their hideout for feeding. Animals such as giraffe, elephants, Zebra, impala buffaloes, antelopes, topi, bush baby, lion, hyena and leopards may be spotted and some species of bird and plants among others. A slow drive to the lodge is made for a full breakfast and lunch. After lunch and relaxation, you will go for a 2 hour’s an evening boat drive on the Lake Ihema which may give you a chance to watch hippos, large crocodiles and bird lovers also have a chance of watching various bird species that feed on and around the lake these include the fish eagle, malachite kingfisher papyrus gonolek, the rare Shoe billed stock and herons among others. Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park.
You will leave Akagera National Park in the morning, after a full served breakfast. Then after head to Nyungwe National Park for primate watch. Nyungwe National Park is one of the mountainous rain forests in Africa with over 13 species of primates coupled with chimps, black and white colobus monkey, and Angolan colobus monkey among other. Make a stopover at Gikongoro for a tour to the genocide memorial of Murambi, this place has information about how this war started. Continue to Butare town, it’s a home for National museum with very many Universities here you can do hand craft and souvenir shopping. Day 5 Chimpanzee trekking/Nature walks/Canopy walk.
You will leave your Hotel/Lodge early in the morning after a cup of tea/coffee. Report to the office headquarters to meet your guide and also to get information about chimp tracking. After, head to Nyungwe forest to begin searching for our relatives the chimps. The activity is tiresome although rewarding. Trekking can take between 1-6 hours. Meeting our closest relatives the chimps is one of the exciting and unforgettable experiences at the park. The park is a home to other primates such as Angolan Colobus, Olive Baboon, Grey-cheekedmangabeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, golden monkey, Vervet monkeys, Hamlyn’s Monkey, Silver Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey among other plus also various species of birds, butter flies and plants. The guide will provide you with relative information not only about the chimps but also to other fauna and flora that live in the forest to make the safari not only interesting but also educative and informative. Retire to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
If you have energy this evening you can go for a canopy walk or Nature walk, here visitors have a higher chance to view various species of butterflies, dissimilar species of birds, and different species of primates that reside in the upper levels of the forest. Day 6 Transfer back to Kigali
After breakfast, depart to Kigali, if you’re interested stopover will be made in various market to shop souvenirs and crafts. Have lunch in Kigali city and then after you will be transferred to the airport in order to meet your departure flight back home.
