On this 10 Day Rwanda Gorilla, Chimp & Wildlife Safari, you will go gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes NP,Chimp Tracking & Wildlife Tour in Akagera NP.This trip starts and ends in Kigali and it involves more interesting activities like boat cruising and nature walks.

Detailed itinerary
Day1: Arrival at the airport:
On your arrival, you will meet your tour guide who will welcome you to the soil of Rwanda, after greeting you will be transferred you to the Hotel/ Lodge for relaxation. Have dinner and an overnight stay at Serena Kigali Hotel (luxury)

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National park:
Early in the morning your guide will pick you up at the Hotel and then drive you to Akagera National Park. But before arriving at the park you will first visit the marketing places, visit the genocide memorial site which displays and gives information on how this terrible war started, visit the cultural centre, the shopping centers among other interesting places, enjoy lunch en route. Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise.
After breakfast you will go for a morning breakfast to search for the large games that are famous at the park. These include the giraffe, zebras, lion, leopards, topis, impalas, buffaloes, bush baby among others and over 420 species of birds including the rare shoebills, African jacana to mention but a few. A slow drive back to the lodge for lunch and leisure. After lunch prepare for a 2 hour’s evening boat drive on Lake Ihema which may gift you with a chance to watch hippos, large crocodiles and bird lovers also have a chance to watch various bird species that feed on and around the lake these include the water birds, the fish eagle, malachite kingfisher, papyrus gonolek, Shoe billed stock and herons among others. Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park;
Have early morning breakfast and then after you will be transferred to Southern part of Rwanda up to Nyungwe National Park which is a home of over 13 species of primates. Make a stopover at Gikongoro for a tour of the genocide memorial of Mirambi for information about how the war started, visit cultural centre, Butare town, a home for National museum with very many Universities so you can do handcraft and souvenir shopping if interested. You will continue with your journey and visit the Royal Palace in Nyanza. Have lunch en route and then after continue with your journey to Nyungwe National Park with a gorgeous view through out. Dinner and an overnight stay at;

Day 4 Chimp tracking in Nyungwe:
After breakfast, the guide will lead you to the forest to search for the chimpanzee, man’s closest relative and other primatessuch as the Angolan black and white Colobus monkey, Olive Baboon, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, golden monkey, Vervet monkeys, Hamlyn’s Monkey, Silver Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey among others together with various species of birds, butterflies and plants. The guide will provide you with information not only about the chimps but also on other flora and fauna that live in the forest.You are advised to carry with you packed lunch and bottled water because the time taken while searching for these relatives is unpredictable it can take between1-6 hours. Day 5: Canopy walk /Community walk:
After a morning breakfast you can take a canopy walk or Nature walk, here visitors have a greater chance to view butterflies, different species of birds, and different species of primates that reside in the upper levels of the forest come back for lunch and leisure at the lodge. Day 6: Nyungwe to Lake Kivu:
In the morning after breakfast, you will be driven to the East of Rwanda to Lake Kivu the main fresh water body in Rwanda. Upon your arrival check in and have lunch at the Hotel/Lodge. After if you’re interested you can go for a boat trip on the Lake to the closest islands to discover fresh-looking places and sceneries, different species of birds may be watched majorly the water birds, you can also relax by the side of the beach or enjoy beach activities such as swimming, volley ball, sun bathing, spot fishing along the Lake among others activities. Day 7: Lake Kivu to Volcanoes National Park.
Have breakfast and then after head to Volcanoes National park home of the few surviving mountain gorillas in the world, it’s also a home to the endangered golden monkeys plus various species of birds that are rare to other National Parks. On the way you will enjoy the foot hills of the Volcanoes that make up volcanoes National Park. The drive may take you about 1-2 hours drive; arrive at the park in the afternoon. Day 8: Gorilla tracking at Volcanoes National Park:
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the giant apes. After, get accompanied by a ranger guide who will lead you to the forest to search for the gorillas for the group booked for. Some level of physical fitness is needed because it involves passing through muddy areas and thick forest. The time spent searching for these giants is unpredictable as it depends on their movements, but once it happens to come across these apes, you will forget all the troubles you have passed through and begin enjoying watching them, you may find them doing their daily activities like feeding, playing, mother feeding their young ones among others. The 1 hour spent with these gorillas is so rewarding, return back to the lodge for leisure. Or if you happen to have the evening free you will go for Ibyiwacu community walk in the Banyarwanda community meet the local people that live around the park. Day 9: Golden monkey tracking:
Have breakfast and then after head to the park headquarters to get briefed about golden monkey tracking , after you will be accompanied by a ranger guide who will lead you to the forest to begin the tracking. You can either follow Kabatwa at the base of Sabyinyo or Musanga at the base of Karisimbi. Golden monkeys are the most endangeredprimates in the volcanoes. Tracking these elusive golden monkeys is unpredictable since it can take between 1-7 hours depending on their movements. After the full satisfaction you will return back to the lodge. The evening will be reserved for resting and relaxation. Dinner and an overnight.

Day 10: Depart to Kigali.
Wake up leisurely for breakfast and then after depart to Kigali. You will enjoy the city tour in case you missed the first one, before proceeding to the Kanombe airport. Visit the genocide memorial centre and museum centre, marketing places, the King’s palace and other interesting sites in Kigali. Enjoy lunch en route and then after head to the airport to meet your departure flight back home.
